It's been over a month now since my last entry. I'm long overdue for at least a personal update, so here it is...

The holidays were crazy. Between work, holiday shopping, work, shuttling back and forth several times to Okanogan for Heaven's family, work, car problems, and even more work, I'm glad to finally get into the new year.

As I said, Heaven spent the holidays in Okanogan with her aunt and cousins. According to reports, a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, that excursion claimed a victim -- my car's cooling system. At least I got a ride in a tow truck out of the deal. On a good note, I ended up renting a new Impala LS for a week and a half. Nice, but it made it pretty difficult to jump back into my Grand Am again, not matter how well the heater works these days.

Christmas morning was again spent with the family at my sister Debbie's, with a great dinner there that afternoon. This is becoming our new family tradition.

I had great plans for family gifts this year. I was going to create several family portraits from impromptu camera phone pics I'd taken during the year. I was going to do some creative Photoshop work that would result in a cool set of framed black and white keepsakes for each of the three family households here in Spokane. Unfortunately my ambitions once again outweighed the realities of my available time. I only finished 4 of 8 I had planned in time for Christmas. They went over well, but the rest will have to wait until later in the new year.

The week following Christmas was spent either working or watching football. It may sound boring, but at least it gave my wallet plenty of time to recuperate from the holiday trauma. New Year's weekend was quiet, with the most excitement being the drive to Okanogan and back to retrieve Heaven. It came during our biggest snow storm of the season to that point.

One other piece of news to report is that Heaven did a great job picking up her grades from the mid-semester report. The extra work really paid off for her.

Heaven's cat Link continues to grow -- at least physically. Mentally he's still a kitten though, and a dumb one at that. He wants to play constantly, but being as big as he is, and with the sharp claws he has, being near him can be a painful experience to say the least. The back of my hands and wrists are perpetually wounded these days. If it continues at this pace, they'll be 100% scar tissue my summer.

There wasn't too much of note to report from the first two weeks of the year. It's primarily been consumed catchup work for on CADwire.net stuff, and NFL football. I'll save the football commentary for later.

That should do it for now, other than to point out that one of my resolutions for this year, is to blog more often. Considering it's already the 17th of January, I'm not off to a good start, eh?
