For the first time in many years, I'm actually stoked about a Super Bowl that the Packers aren't playing in. It's a half-hour before kickoff, and I'm just getting settled in with my BABOJ (Big-Ass Bowl of Jambalaya), and already I've been treated to both Stevie Wonder and Bart Starr. I have a feeling it's gonna be a special game.
Although it's really cool to see Seattle finally in the big game, I can't say I like their chances. I really think it's Pittsburgh's game to lose. I expect Pittsburgh's offense to have more success against their opponent's defense than the Seahawks' offense will. I think Pittsburgh's defense will dictate much of Seattle's strategy and cause an extra turnover or two. Pittsburgh also has an edge in special tems as well. The intangible for me is Holmgren as the Seahawksteams coach. He can strategize with the best of 'em, and I'm sure he'll have some innovative responses to Pittsburgh, but I don't think he has the horses that Pittsburgh does. Don't get me wrong, Spokane is still Seahawk country and I'd love to see Seattle win, but I think it'll be tough for them to take Pittsburgh very far away from their game plan. The fact that the make up of the crowd looks like it's shaping up to be a Steeler home game only confirms things for me.
If Seattle does overcome all of this to win, it'll probably go down as one for the ages. But either way, I expect a good game.
P.S. - Attention Packer fans! After the game, look for Bart to present the Lombardi trophy to the winning team.
