I for one am happy to see 2005 in the rear-view mirror. Every year has its ups and downs, and 2005 was certainly no different, but last year was a constant roller coaster ride. So naturally, now I’m sick of roller coasters.
To say last year had its ups and downs is somewhat of an understatement. More accurately, 2005 was a series of peaks and valleys, and frankly, their severity was too great. Lord knows I’m always up for a nice drive through the mountains, but constant rollercoaster rides are too much.
In examining why last year was so bad, I think the biggest issue was just that for the first time in a long time, both my personal and professional lives were experiencing these severe swings in fortune. In the past, I could respond to personal pressures by escaping to work, and vice versa. I plan to make room for more safe havens from now on – both personally and professionally.
I guess that means my resolution is: Fewer roller coasters. More mountain drives.
