The full scale of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina is only now becoming evident. It is difficult to see the images just now coming out of Louisiana and Mississippi. And what's even more scary is that the situation continues to deteriorate rapidly. Officials have given up on repairing the levees for now, and have told citizens to use any means necessary to protect their families and property. Stories of heroism and rescue are offset by images of looting and despair. I can't think of another comparable US event in the in my lifetime.
Unfortunately, I think the worst news is still to come.
