Over five hours of emergency surgeries were to no avail. My cool little cell phone has finally passed on. It turns out that briefly being submerged in soda, followed almost immediately by a three-foot drop onto asphalt was more than the little guy could take.

Following a thorough cleaning, it actually worked fairly well for several days after the incident, but it began acting up during my walkabout. It finally stopped working altogether this past Tuesday. Although my first surgery recovered some functionality, I could never get it back completely.
As Christopher Guest and Billy Crystal used to say... I hate when that happens.
On a good note, the experience has made me realize just how much I miss the good old days doing mechanical design. Programming and web development is certainly rewarding, but the satisfaction derived from physical design is much different.
