Wow, It's Deja Vu All Over Again

I moved to Spokane in March of 1980.  I was just 19 and it seemed like Spokane was my oyster.  Then just a couple of months later, on May 18, 1980, Mt. St. Helens blew its top.  Spokane was suddenly a much different, more surreal place.

Now 24 years later, there's little evidence here of the resulting massive ash fallout.  Then late last week comes news that Mt. St. Helens is once again rumbling suddenly back to life.  Today there are reports that put the liklihood of a possible eruption in the next few days at 70% or more.  I guess that means there's a 30% chance it will simply burp and say “Excuse me“.  The one good thing to take away from the news is at least no one's predicting an erution comparable to 1980.
