Here it is 500 years later, and we're still figuring out what a genius Leonardo Da Vinci was.
The New York Times did a short piece about a recreation of a self-propelled wagon first designed by Da Vinci back in 1478. Powered by a spring that is tensed by pushing the cart backwards, it had a range of some 40 tyards. It was likely the first vehicle of its kind.
