Holy cow! How did this one slip by me? Novell released Mono 1.0 yesterday. Sure it's taken them a while, but then again, they said it would. For those of you that don't know, it's an open-source, cross-platform implementation of Microsoft's .NET framework. Initially it supports Linux, Solaris, MacOS X, Windows NT/XP.

I'll find it interesting to hear the spin from the Java community now that Mono is real. Whatever happened to Java being the cross-platform development utopia we've always dreamed about?
